A feasibility study for either the restoration of the Albéniz Theatre and the Hotel Madrid or their transformation into commercial premises and housing. The former option included the complete restoration of the theatre, rescuing the elements of architectonic value and reorganising the stalls, stage and orchestra pit to adapt them to the requirements of modern shows. To resolve the differences between the contrasting uses of the latter option, floor level was raised onto the roof of the commercial premises, thus creating a quiet open square with access into the housing units. The lower enclosed levels are illuminated by means of formidable skylights.
