The project for the National Museum of Architecture and Urbanism in Salamanca is proposed as a centre for the diffusion of architecture, directly connected to the city. For this reason it is proposed that public space be used as a temporary extension of the museum. In this way, architecture goes out into the street and reaches the citizens at first hand.
With this in mind, the main façade receives different treatment depending on the needs of each exhibition; temporary installations are put up at street level; and an area is created where the public can watch the projections
The interior space is planned to include a great central courtyard which immediately becomes the centre of attention. It is a multi purpose space for projecting onto curtains and moveable panels, for displaying scale models, and is crossed by two gangways that horizontally connect the exhibition areas.
This courtyard visually connects the whole building and receives powerful monitored overhead light through the roof of irregular prisms.
