This Casa de Labor belonging to the Monastery of El Paular was built in the 17th century and was originally conceived as a farm factory for storing and elaborating the products harvested in the area. After the restoration it becomes a boutique hotel and a cinema and city museum to revitalize tourism in Talamanca del Jarama.
The new building respectfully encompasses the Charterhouse and opens up transversely to the town, creating a continuous open space. An aesthetic dialogue is established between the new and the old building where the traditional forms adapt to new proportions and geometries laid down by contemporary techniques and construction materials.
